Marcelo is a journalist with a master’s degree in communication and health information from The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). His research in the area of communication and health focuses on the study of social networks, especially the circulation of information and rumors, the process of mediatization in human relations, discursive aspects of online communication and the issue of risk associated with science in the postmodernity. His recent interest is the circulation of rumors and fake news related to epidemic disease, especially zika and of yellow fever in Brazil.
